Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated individual to apply for this band 6 role with a specialised interest in Pre-Op Assessment as part of the Ophthalmology team. The successful candidate will support the management structure in ophthalmology trustwide, Darlington Memorial Hospital and Bishop Auckland and will also lead and head up the pre-assessment teams on both sites. This would then give a specialist pre-operative assessment service to Ophthalmology including shaping the Pre Assessment teams on both sites.

Main duties of the job

The role requires you to be an experienced nurse who wants to expand into management assisting the band 7 on both sites with a good specialised interst in pre-op assessment to lead and support that team. The successful candidate will be a team player, working effectively alongside a wide range of professionals, as well as working autonously. You should have a holistic approach to care and the advanced nursing skills to assess and evaluate patients suitability for the various forms of anaesthesia.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
