Job summary
Working within the Theatres and Day Surgery department the post holder will be required to provide effective, confidential administrative support on a day-to-day basis for the Clinical Teams to ensure that their needs are fully met, by working within demanding time constraints by prioritisation of own workload. The post holder will need to be proactive, flexible, responsive to the changing needs and demands of the organisation and to support the smooth running of the administration duties. Knowledge of EPR is desirable, as required to print theatre lists, amend theatre slots and patients details, whilst liaising with wards and Waiting Lists Officers in order to book patients in. Post holder will oversee the duties as well as supervise the theatre admin and day surgery reception team. Line management skills and experience is desirable, although training and development will be supported.
Main duties of the job
Manage and supervise the theatre admin and day surgery reception staff with regadings to rota cover, sickness and appraisals. Will also need to confidentally order and orgainse theatre lists for the following day once the secretaries send the final list from the surgeon. Book onto EPR all CEPOD and Trauma patients to the lists for that day (AM and PM) in times of holiday leave and absence.
Provide admin support to the Theatre Managers. Covering the SEAL Front Desk which will involve sending for the patients and liaising with the wards. Respond to external and internal telephone queries, manage email inbox and take appropriate action as a result of the enquiry.
