Main duties of the job
Main
duties include assisting in provision of effective acute care treatment to
patients in a timely manner, meeting Same Day Emergency Care targets without
compromising the quality of patient care, participation in the departments
Teaching and Audit Programmes, ensuring the departmental and hospital policies
and protocols are respected and adhered and maintains, and carrying out duties
as per GMC standards, trust policies

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

excellent consultant and middle grade tier. The Acute Medicin team run the Medical Same
Day Emergency Care, and have excellent and supportive nursing teams. Our friendly atmosphere is frequently
commented upon by past junior doctors. These positions have been created to
increase our junior tier numbers to strengthen the team, particulalry in the Medical
Same Day Emergency Care department.
The applicants will be expected to have undergone
appropriate foundation training or equivalent training. Preference will be
given to those who have previous experience in Acute Medicine and Same Day
Emergency Care services. There will be opportunities to develop skills in an
acute setting, quality improvement, teaching and training with 2 weeks of paid
study leave, as well as 3 hours per week of paid self-directed educational
development time.

- MBBS or equivalent
- Current ALS provider status
- Attained F2 competences or equivalent
Desirable
- BSc/BMedSci (or other intercalated degree), other degrees/qualifications relevant to Emergency Medicine.
- ATLS/APLS (or equivalent)
Experience
Essential
- Relevant post qualification.
- Either relevant NHS post qualification experience (Foundation training/equivalent) OR relevant previous Emergency Medicine experience
Desirable
- Experience in one or more related specialities (acute medicine, orthopaedics, critical care, anaesthetics).
- Relevant experience in adult or paediatric Emergency Medicine.
- Experience working in Same Day Emregency Care settings.

- Evidence of experience in performing procedures relevant to Acute medicine.
- Evidence of good documentation and written communication skills.
