Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Decisions Unit, we are looking to recruit a ward clerk/receptionist to provide clerical support to the clinical staff in our busy unit. Your role would include greeting patients, taking their details and preparing the online documentation for the clinical team. You will also be involved in data collection and audits. You must be confident dealing with patients and staff, approachable, a team player and computer literate. You will be joining a friendly team of nurse pracititioners, health care assistants and ward clerks seeing emergency surgical referrals in our surgical ambulatory unit, open 730am until 2000pm, 365 days a year you will therefore be required to work some weekends and bank holidays. The position is part time at 24hrs per week, which will be two 12hr shifts.

Main duties of the job

You will welcome patients to the unit, take their demographic details, input them onto EPR, print stickers, prepare the documentation for the nursing team, complete the admissions register, create clinics on EPR, arrange follow up appointments and referrals, stocktake and prepare a weekly order, use cardea, data collection for audits, prepare a monthly graph of patient outcomes, label up notes and send them for scanning, answer queries from patients and other departments.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
