Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Healthcare Assistant Apprentices to work within County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.The post is to provide healthcare support to a dedicated team in accordance with the Trust's policies and procedures whilst studying a Senior Healthcare Support Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship. There are postsbased at Bishop Auckland Hospital andUniversity Hospital North Durham in a variety of different settings. Formal training sessions will be part of the Apprenticeship programme, delivered in partnership with New College Durham. Training will take place at New College Durham or at one of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust premises.There is the possibility of progression to the permanent post of Health Care Assistant within CDDFT.
Due to the nature of the training role, applicants must be over 18 years old to apply.
Main duties of the job
Assist in welcoming patients to clinical areas and recording base line observations.
Provide assistance during clinical and nursing procedures.
Work with other health care staff.
Liaise with nursing staff and the multidisciplinary teams.
Develop skills.
Ensure the patient areas are kept clean, tidy and stocked.
Support the relatives ofpatients.
Ensure that the ward maintains a warm and welcoming environment.
Prepare and assist with a variety of tests.
Assist patients to eat, drink and meet personal care needs and give appropriate assistant.
Attend all Trust mandatory and statutory training programmes.
Maintain professional standards with reference to appearance, manner and punctuality.
Attend college lead workshops and complete all academic work in relation to apprenticeship.
Carry out any other reasonable duties, as required.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
