Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Administration Apprentice to work in the Cardiac Arrest Prevention Team and Patient Safety Team within County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. This post is to provide an efficient and administrative support service to the dedicated team in accordance with the Trusts policies and procedures with the successful candidate working toward the Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship.

This position will be based at Darlington Memorial Hospital, Hollyhurst Road, Darlington DL36HX

Main duties of the job

The successful Apprentice will receive appropriate training and guidance to undertake the full range of clerical duties which will include: Carrying out administrative tasks including data input, photocopying and word processing for both the CAP and Patient Safety Team within the Trust. The expected career progression would be into an administrative role within the NHS, either band 2 or band 3 position.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities

The successful Apprentice will receive appropriate training and guidance to undertake the full range of clerical duties which will include:

To carry out administrative tasks including data input, photocopying and word processing for both the CAP and Patient Safety Team within the Trust

To manage systems keeping up-to-date information using data software systems

To support with registration of resuscitation courses

To assist with in assurance and compliance monitoring across the CAP and Patient Safety teams

To assist in the creation of audit reports for external stakeholders such as the CQC

To effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders including Local Authorities

To deal with internal and external mail promptly within Trust facilities for the teams

To act as first point of contact for both teams internally and externally

To maintain a general filing and retrieval system as appropriate

To provide administration support to the wider team as directed by the line manager or office supervisor

To type general correspondence to acceptable standards using appropriate software and resources

To maintain all filing systems and electronic records in line with organisations policies and procedures

To assist with preparation, planning and publicity for Trust events, including meetings and educational events

Where appropriate to assist in diary, calendar and event preparation and management, including typing and preparation of meeting documentation, minutes, preparation and circulation of agendas and liaison with senior Trust stake holders re calendar arrangements

To demonstrate a professional image at all times, ensuring confidentiality, tact and diplomacy

Any other duties as appropriate
