Lead Respiratory Nurse Specialist/Matron

Job summary

The acute respiratory team is looking for a nurse with respiratory nursing expertise to lead the nursing team. The role is a combination of clinical, management and service development. Working closely with all members of the respiratory team to inspire, support and deliver an excellent service across the organisation.

Main duties of the job

The role includes nurse led clinics, including airways disease and sleep. Some inpatient review of patients and mentoring and support of more junior members of the nursing team. Education to different groups of staff on respiratory issues including acute use of NIV and CPAP. There is management and budget responsibilities for the acute team. The role allows the individual to seek out new and innovative ways of working, continiung to devleop the service to make it as patients focused as possible.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

  • Supplemented by evidence of post graduate diploma specialist training, experience, short courses plus further specialist training
  • Recognised Teaching qualification
  • Registered Mentor
  • Non-Medical Prescribing

Experience

  • Substantial management / advanced clinical skills experience as a Practitioner
  • Able to demonstrate effective clinical leadership skills.
  • Expert knowledge/skills and experience.

Statutory Registration
