The Digital Health Team at County Durham and
Darlington NHS Foundation Trust are expanding and we excited to offer three
Digital Nurse Specialist vacancies to join our growing team. To support the
Senior Digital Specialist Nurse in the development, implementation and
management of digital projects across the trust. The Digital Specialist Nurse
Service are a dedicated team who provide a robust service actively managing the
electronic patient record (EPR) with a key responsibility for delivering
training to all staff. A candidate working in the community setting with
knowledge of SystmOne would be encouraged to apply to fufil our future
ambitions with the digital agenda for Nursing. As we move through the digital
age in healthcare the successful post holder will have an active involvement in
future digital projects and EPR developments as identified by the trust in line
with its evolving clinical and quality strategy. The Digital Specialist Nurse
will also help guide and manage other members of the Digital Specialist Nurse
Service.
Main duties of the job
Participate
in the design and implementation of future developments of the trusts EPR as
delegated by the Senior Digital Nurse
Provide daily at the elbow
support across the organisation to all clinicians to support the use of digital
solutions at CDDFT
Work directly under the
Senior Digital Nurse and Digital Midwife firstly then in partnership with the
wider members of the Digital Specialist Nurse Service to ensure the service is
joined up, well-structured and robust
Actively contribute to the
development of projects as directed by the Senior Digital Nurse but also
encourage innovation by sharing any key areas of potential development with the
Senior Digital Nurse & Digital Matron as required
Identify, escalate and
proactively manage any risks associated with any digital project by working
closely with the Clinical Safety Matron & wider Digital Health Team
Provide senior support to
junior members of the Digital Health Team including appraisals etc.
Act
as an expert resource for all care groups in any aspect of the Digital Nurse
Service including digital solutions and escalate appropriately an in a timely
manner any concerns raised to the Senior Nurse

Delivering
at the elbow and formal training to the organisation for the EPR and other
digital solutions; one area of particular interest will be community services
in Nursing and the EPR knowledge of SystmOne would be advantageous for a
candidate;
To be Superusers for
digital solutions and act as digital champions;
Proactively contribute to
project team meetings and act as team lead in the absence of the Senior Digital
Nurse;
Be instrumental in the
development and successful implementation of the aforementioned IT solutions in
clinical environments that will lead to improved efficiency and deliver quality
care to patients;
Engage clinicians, managers
and other staff in developing an environment and culture which is focused on
improving services to patients;
Work with clinical and
business divisions to adapt special projects as driven by local and national
priorities, patient experience and robust value for money assessments;
Support clinical and
business change teams in the process of change, encouraging effective team
working;
Act as a catalyst for
change, ensuring that outcomes are based upon recognising the best practice;
Develop opportunities for
improving clinical practice to all disciplines that maximize the involvement of
all staff and services across CDDFT;
Act as line manager to
other members of the Digital Specialist Nurse Team with regard to:
o Appraisal, clinical supervision training and
professional development of the band 5 and band 4 team members
o Absence management in accordance with Trust policy;
o Recruitment and selection of staff; as delegated by the
Senior Digital Nurse
Act as first line
responders and super users of the IT solutions and be first point of contact
for care group concerns;
Assist in the development
of new protocols and policies where appropriate to support changes in service
models and patient pathways as led by the Senior Digital Nurse;
Share good practices at all
opportunities both internally across all areas of the organisation and external
to the trust;
Ensure confidentiality of
information is respected at all times following Information Governance
standards;
Identify areas of poor
performance and work in partnership with clinical and managerial teams to
disseminate good practice;
Analysis and evaluation of
clinical audit to benchmark the impact upon clinical change management by
identifying areas of exceptional practice and sharing good practice to areas
that may need support to improve standards/compliance;
Analysis and evaluation of
data to assess performance of digital nurse projects;
Represent the Trust in a
positive manner at all times;
Attend Essential Training
as required;
Maintain and improve
professional knowledge, skills and competence to ensure the delivery of
evidence based practice in line with the NMCs code of professional conduct and
in order to maintain NMC Registration
