Job summary
We are looking to recruit forward thinking, enthusiastic GPs
who would be interested in picking up salaried or sessional hours in our out of
hours service at Durham & Shotley Bridge.
We would be particularly interested in staff who would like
to concentrate their hours over weekends and nights.
In exchange we offer a competitive rate of pay and 10%
protected study time for contracted staff. We have both contracted and sessional positions
available and we offer 32 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata).
Our Urgent Treatment Centres provide a home
visiting service, telephone advice and face to face consultations for patients
requiring urgent and emergency care. Although our services are GP led you will
be working alongside Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Healthcare Assistant/
drivers.
Main duties of the job
You will be dealing with a range
of patients from the local demographic area who will attend either by
appointment or walk in addition to telephone appointments.
We also offer a home visiting
service for patients who are unable to attend.
The scope of practice is for injury
and illness at Durham and minor injuries and urgent care at Shotley Bridge
Hospital, for adults and children of any age.
You will also be required to cover
other Urgent Treatment Centres as and when required.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
