This is an exciting opportunity for driven and motivated midwives to develop themselves and their skills.

We are seeking to employee a forward thinking motivated experienced midwife to lead the Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) screening service at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. You will be jointly responsible, alongside our well established Team for Antenatal and Newborn Sreening, for the co-ordination of all the NHS antenatal and newborn screening programmes within the trust, consistent with UK National Screening Committee recommendations (UK NSC) and national programme standards, with designated responsibilities to direct you and support you with your job plan.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a candiate who is committed and passionate to Antenatal and Newborn Screening with evidence of an interest and previous working in this field, providing effective leadership for all midwifery staff within the clinical areas.

The post holder will action , implement and monitor quality assurance of all the screening programmes ensuring appropriate failsafe's are in place.

The post holder will be required to ensure screening is of the highest standard and provide regular formal updates on the performance of the ANNB screening programmes to screening commissioners at NHS England and the regional Quality assurance team.

The post holder as 1 of 2 antenatal and newborn screening leads, and will provide clinical expertise, professional direction and leadership to midwives , maternity support workers and the wider multi disciplinary team.

The post holder will be required to maintain clinical credibility and competance.

The role will involve participating actively within escalation across Commuity Servuces, during heightened levels of increased activity.
