a well established team on the Respiratory Ward and Acute Respiratory Care Unit,
Endocrinology and Hemotology as a Ward Clerk.
The positions availiable
are for 1 fulltime perminant and a partime ward clerk that maybe used across
multiple wards.
Ward 43 in Darlington
Memorial Hospital is a 38 bedded ward which includes 8 ARU beds.
Ward 41 is 26 bedded ward
Endocrinology speciality
Ward 42 is 8 bedded
emotology ward
Main duties of the job
This
post is to provide clerical support to nursing staff relieving them of certain
non-nursing duties and in this way enhancing patient care as a valuable member
of the ward team The post holder must at all times provide a positive image of
the hospital and ensure confidentiality.

Job responsibilities
To receive patients and visitors to the ward
To input
patient admission, attendance, transfer and discharge data to the necessary
patient administration & information systems, ensuring patient and GP
details are accurate and updated as necessary To arrange patient follow up and
other appointments, as required
To
provide administrative support to ward-based clinics, as required
To deal
with telephone enquiries, taking and conveying messages appropriately
To sort
incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail for posting
To
prepare patient admission packs, as necessary
To
maintain temporary paper patient records during admission, ensuring that each
item is correctly barcoded for scanning into the Electronic Clinical Document
Management System (ECDMS)
To
maintain accurate ward bed board (until e-obs system fully implemented)
To
maintain ward staff board
To
maintain ward information board
To liaise
with staff bank regarding shifts requiring nursing/HCA cover, as directed by
the nurse in charge
To
undertake elements of ward check-list, as required (eg VTE completion)
To ensure
paper laboratory results are made available to clinical teams for verification
To
undertake delivery of investigation requests to relevant hospital departments
Photocopying
as required
To
maintain adequate levels of ward stationery and supplies, using CARDEA as
required
To
requisition repairs as necessary

Administrator or Information Asset Owner to provide suppo rt for the control
