Job summary

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Project Manager to join the Strategy and Engagement team in Health Informatics as part of a fixed-term work programme.

We are looking for a highly motivated and professional individual who will work collaboratively with all stakeholders. Working alongside PMO colleagues, you will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of small to medium scale projects or work streams that fall within the portfolio to enable delivery of our digital strategy.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities

The Project Manager will assist in the delivery of the Health Informatics Strategy through the effective identification and definition of required schemes. Supporting Health Informatics and Care Groups in the development of specifications and business cases, identification of resources and funds, detailed planning and benefit identification.

The successful candidate will assist with advising managers and teams on the best use of project management disciplines and approaches.

Support the effective delivery of the portfolio through the identification and allocation of resources in line with the organisational priorities.

Manage and direct key Health Informatics projects/workstreams from initiation to closure, including development of specifications and core project controls, identification of resources and management of associated funds, detailed planning, implementation and benefits realisation.

Work with the Head of Digital Strategy and Programmes to develop an appropriate work package for key workstreams.

Work alongside senior stakeholders to ensure safe delivery of the workstream objectives and tasks.

Manage and direct projects and sub workstreams from initiation to closure, including development of relevant requirements, identification of resources and funds, detailed planning and implementations, and support the benefits realisation process.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience of delivering change in a Programme environment.
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner Project Management qualification, or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Chartered IT Practitioner.
  • MSP Foundation.
  • Recognized clinical qualification in the relevant specialty.
  • Health Informatics related qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in a health informatics environment specifically with involvement in Development, Systems or User support.
  • Demonstrable management experience, including the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing change.
  • Health Informatics Project Management experience or involvement as a key member of a project team using a Project Management methodology such PRINCE2.
  • Experience of working with staff at all levels.

Desirable

  • Experience in dealing with Clinical System Suppliers and the ability to keep pace with developments in their systems.
  • Experience of working within the NHS.

Special Skills & Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of and ability to use appropriate computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office and MS Project.
  • Knowledge of the National Digital Strategy.
  • Able to analyse and translate detailed technical and complex data into comprehensive reports for use at both user and Board level.
  • Well-developed inter-personal, communication, facilitation, management, and negotiation skills.
  • Able to communicate with users in development, implementation, training and support roles.
  • Able to identify and clarify user information needs and data collection requirements and translate appropriately.
  • Able to make judgments when presented with complex situations without reference to a manager.
  • Able to prioritise and plan multiple projects that are on-going.
  • Able to work under pressure and time constraints and without supervision.
