An
exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person with an interest in
teaching and the deteriorating patient / resuscitation to join the cardiac
arrest prevention team.
The cardiac arrest
prevention team provides a wide range of bespoke training courses to ensure
that staff within the organisation can respond to deteriorating patients
appropriately. With a focus on
prevention the team has successful sustained a reduction in cardiac arrests
year on year since 2012-13.
Working across the
organisation you will provide support to clinical colleagues, assist with the
delivery of a large portfolio of training courses, support quality improvement
initiatives through audit work and provide expert knowledge and support to the
organisation regarding resuscitation equipment.

Main duties of the job
The associate practitioner
(cardiac arrest prevention) is a key member of the team. They will undertake a
significant amount of training in relation to adult and paediatric basic life
support, acute illness management and adult and paediatric immediate life
support.
The associate practitioner
will support the sisters/charge nurses in the delivery of a comprehensive
service and will assist with quality improvement projects and audit work.
They will coordinate the
maintenance of all resuscitation training equipment across all hospital sites.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

requests through learning from deaths, cardiac arrest case reviews or RCA
meetings.
