This is an exciting opportunity for driven
and motivated midwives to develop themselves and their skills and become a
part of our Management Team. You would be based within an Acute setting,
across Postnatal Ward, with responsibility for staff on the Labour Ward in
the absence of the Labour Ward Manager. We have excellent facilities on each
of our Acute sites, with both low and high risk area's for birthing persons.

Our Midwives work with our Practice
Development Team on arrival into our organisation, and following on from
interview you would be provided with contact and support from the team,
followed with an excellent preceptorship programme. You will be supported and
welcomed into your role reagrdless of banding and experience. We are keen to
develop highly trained Midwives who can deliver exceptional care, to the
families of County Durham and Darlington, and can't wait to welcome qualified
Midwives to join us on our exciting journey for 2023 and beyond.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for midwives who are committed
and passionate to provide safe shift provision, taking responsibility for the
coordination of care of the women within our Departments and acting upon, and
escalating concerns in a timely manner. We will take into consideration your
skills and knowledge and develop a plan with you as to how you can transition
into your role. Safety of our women and babies is paramount, and so we are
looking for highly skilled, professional and autonomous Midwives to join our
Teams.
The post holder will carry
shift leader responsibilities when on duty, this will include allocation of
workload, skill mix, staffing levels and an overview of the patient numbers and
bed availability on the maternity unit.
The post holder will be able to deal with unpredictable high levels of clinical
activity to include assessment planning implementation and evaluation of
midwifery care in a safe environment.
The role will involve
participating actively within escalation across Trust during heightened levels
of increased activity, liaising directly with colleagues to maintain safety
within both units.
