Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Dietitian to join our Acute Secondary Care team. We welcome applicants from those expected to graduate in 2022 or early 2023.

The Nutrition and Dietetic service is structured into teams; secondary care (incorporating nutrition support and critical care), bariatrics, primary care (incorporating care home training), adult & paediatric diabetes, adult Home Enteral Feeding, paediatrics (incorporating Home Enteral Feeding and paediatric weight management). the nutrition and dietetic service comprises of 6 teams, with 49 Dietitians, 2 Specialist Nurses, 5 Dietetic assistants and we are supported by central administration. We are based on 4 sites in the County, at Darlington Memorial Hospital, University Hospital North Durham, Bishop Auckland Hospital and Shotley Bridge Hospital.

As a service, we actively encourage service improvement and development. Flexible working is utilised within the service and there are opportunities for training and course attendance.

Main duties of the job

This team provides cover to the inpatient adults within County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust and covers University Hospital North Durham, Darlington Memorial hospital and the sub acute frailty wards at Bishop Auckland Hospital. This post will also cover general outpatient clinic sessions, telephone clinic sessions and there may be the opportunity for a Bariatric or frailty rotation. The team is involved in student training, training of other medical and health care professionals, audit, service evaluation and service improvement.
