Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self motivated
individual to join a small, dynamic team responsible for providing a
professional Skills Development Network for the North East and North Cumbria.
The post holder will be responsible for developing training
and development programmes for finance, procurement and informatics staff
across the north east and north cumbria region, helping to create a culture of
staff development across all our organisations.
A key element of this role will be the development of our
website pages and creating and implementing our communications strategy to
ensure that all the staff who can access our services can make use of the
resources we have.
This role could be suitable role for a recent graduate.

Main duties of the job
This role will form part of a
small team who provide professional development to finance, procurement and
informatics across the north east and north cumbria. We are part of a wider
national network and act on behalf of national and regional stakeholders.
We are looking for someone with enthusiasm,
ideas and an interest in helping people be the best they can be, helping them
to form their own personal development plans and to really encourage talent
management across the region.
The role is based in Durham but we work flexibly
and we encourage the post holder to develop this role into something really
valued by our stakeholders.

• Be responsible
for designated projects to implement the Skills Development strategy.
• Create a
culture of staff development and lifelong learning across the patch by
encouraging and supporting organisations in development initiatives, by
providing information on those that are less enthusiastic, by providing a point
of contact for people on development issues within Finance, Procurement &
Informatics and by regularly communicating best practice/new ideas across the
patch.
• Gather,
maintain and analyse complex information about the development of all finance,
procurement & informatics staff in the patch, regularly creating and
maintaining databases and spreadsheets,
producing reports and making recommendations where required.
• Ensure
effective liaison and cooperation between the Skills Development Network, and
with individual leads in all of the organisations, balancing their different
needs and prioritising appropriately.
• Work
collaboratively with internal and external bodies such as CCAB professional
accountancy bodies and training and consultancy organisations, to ensure the
best use of expertise and resources.
• Provide
advice to Finance Directors and senior managers from other disciplines in all
matters relating to staff development.
• Assist on
negotiating with, and developing long term relationships with, suppliers of
venues, facilities and services.
Training and Development
• Recognise
responsibility to participate in regular performance and development reviews
with line manager and to jointly identify performance standards for the post.
• Evidence
will show appropriate professional and academic development over time,
effective succession planning and individual level employee job satisfaction.
• Be
responsible for the maintenance and improvement of own professional knowledge
and competence.
• Participate
in personal objective setting and review, including the creation of a personal
development plan.
Communication
Develop and maintain effective systems of communication
within the Region including:
