Following an investment of an additional £3m into Therapy
services CDDFT is pleased to advertise an exciting Highly Specialist Speech and
Language Therapy leadership post in Elderly care which includes SLT site lead
responsibilities for Bishop Auckland Hospital. Bishop Auckland has been chosen
as a centre for Frailty with the formation of 2 new elderly care wards. We are
looking for an experienced Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to
lead on the development of new elderly care SLT pathways. The successful
applicant will work within this new MDT AHP team to deliver exemplary care to
patients with neurological and mental health communication and swallowing
disorders with the opportunity to work with stroke rehabilitation.
As the site lead the successful candidate will
utilise their outstanding organisation and communication skills in order to
support SLT staff and patients at Bishop Auckland Hospital to achieve
outstanding Speech and Language Therapy outcomes in both elderly care and
stroke rehab.
Main duties of the job
The Elderly Care/ site lead post will require experience of
managing elderly frail patients with complex dysphagia and communication
disorders including AAC in progressive neurological conditions, mental health
and stroke rehabilitation. Experience of
line managing staff would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will hold a degree in Speech and
Language Therapy and be registered with the Health Professional’s Council.
The Speech and Language Therapy Service offers a
supportive team of experienced colleagues allowing ready-access to support
second opinions and on-going peer supervision to deliver evidence-based
practise assessment and therapy.
