Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit two band 4
Macmillan Cancer Care Coordinator posts to work alongside our lung cancer
specialist nursing teams providing non-clinical support. These exciting roles
will work across County Durham and Darlington and will underpin the delivery of
the personalised care agenda to people affected by cancer.
You will provide support across the team and will have a
flexible and positive outlook.
You will require good
interpersonal and communication skills and you will be highly motivated to
learn new skills.

Main duties of the job
The
role ensures our cancer patient’s needs are supported at every stage of their
pathway – this will include assessing non-clinical needs, supporting the
specialist nursing teams and facilitating the smooth running and administration
of the cancer pathways.

- Previous experience of training/coaching. Previous experience of working in the NHS in a role relating to cancer patient pathways.

- Ability to work independently without direct supervision. Ability to work effectively as a member of several teams. Awareness for the need for confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload. Ability to communicate and work with a wide range of professional and administrative staff.
- Ability to follow policy and procedure guidance and to make a proactive contribution to the development of these. Willingness to undertake new skills appropriate to the service need. Basic understanding of service improvement and the application of this.
Desirable
- Knowledge of appropriate legislation with regards to sharing patient and staff data and protecting confidentiality.
- Understanding of the Cancer Waiting Times targets and their application to the management of patient pathways.
- Experience of Audit Process. Contributed to a service improvement programme within the NHS.
Qualifications

- GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent. Has or working towards NVQ Level 3/4 or equivalent experience. Administrative training and/or experience.
