Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit x2 suitably experienced and motivated Management Accountants to join our successful team within the finance function at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.

These posts are permanent posts, reporting to and supporting the Senior Management Accountant and the Associate Care Group/Deputy Corporate Accountant.

It will be based on site for the majority of the week with the potential for a portion of the week to be worked away from the office.

You will have excellent numerical and analytical skills and possess the ability to work autonomously, achieve deadlines and prioritise your workload. Significant experience in Microsoft Excel and a good understanding of general ledger accounting software would be an advantage.

  • Experience within the finance function

Desirable

  • Experience of working within NHS finance

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs / O Levels (A* - C) including Maths and English
  • Demonstrates a track record of academic achievement or has experience of working within a finance function.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a NHS finance function.
  • Studying towards a professional accountancy qualification

Special Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • The ability to provide and receive complex financial information to/from financial and non-financial staff orally, in writing or electronically in a professional manner.
  • Good computer skills with experience of the Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Word.
  • The ability to input into and interrogate the Finance General Ledger to obtain standard and ad hoc reports
  • Has the ability to quickly learn new skills and tasks as and when required.
  • Ability to work to all routine and ad hoc deadlines.
  • Ability to identify and act to remedy circumstances that mean a deadline is at risk.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to provide training, advise and review the work of more junior team members.
  • Must have good analytical skills
  • Possesses basic organisational skills

  • Has an appreciation of the NHS finance regime
  • Experience of Oracle Finance Ledger system
