The successful candidate will be expected to provide a high
quality holistic health management for patients detained within Durham Constabulary
Custody Suites and forensic service throughout the County Durham and Darlington
area.
The postholder will demonstrate a high level of expertise
within the specialist service providing, advice, education and support to
staff, detainees and police personnel.
The postholder will be practising autonomously as a Forensic
Medical Examiner within the designated speciality area to provide patient centred clinical
care. This will encompass the skills of
advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an
agreed scope of practice throughout the directorate.
Provide highly spcialist advice underpinned with
theoretical knowledge, to support the
Criminal Justice System and instigate highly specialised pathways of care
within a secure environment.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute
to the Total Healthcare Service. To
provide effective leadership and clinical provision for the services provided
by Total Healthcare to Durham Constabulary.
Provide specialist advice to detainees, detention staff, Police Officers
or any other person involved in the detention process. Lead and develop a defined area of Advanced
Clinical practice within the designated area of practice, promoting
interdisciplinary team and collaborative working practices. Meet regularly with team members as a team
and on an individual basis as required to support their personal and
professional development. Act as a
clinical role model demonstrating high standards of clinical practice and
provide support or advice to other staff when necessary.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
