Job summary

At Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust, our Recovery Support Workers are vital to keeping our Recovery department running smoothly and ensuring every patient receives the highest quality care in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

As a valued member of our Recovery team, you'll assist clinical staff, organise and maintain equipment, and help create a seamless experience for patients recovering after surgery. Your supportive and flexible approach will be key as you manage the flow of clean and used equipment throughout our busy theatre complex.

In order to provide you with the knowledge and skills which you need to provide safe, compassionate care you will be required to complete the Health Care Assistant Apprenticeship Pathway. As part of this you will complete the Care Certificate which is a nationally recognised training framework from Skills for Health. This sets out the standards for care within the UK and is applicable for all new staff that are new to care provision

Main duties of the job

You will work as a member of the recovery team, providing valuable assistance, directly contributing to the safe and efficient care of patients within the operating theatres.

You will be responsible for ensuring the recovery environment is maintained and cleaned in accordance with Trust policies and meeting departmental and infection control standards.

You will assist in providing care to patients, in support of, and supervised by operating department practitioners/qualified theatre personnel.

You may have to stand for long periods, which could be in excess of 1hour e.g. Providing support and assistance to the recovery practitioner.

You will be required to be physically able to perform manual-handling duties that may require intense effort frequently throughout their shift e.g. Positioning patients, Movement of equipment, Movement of beds/trolleys.

You will require high concentration skills and be able to adapt to unforeseen circumstances during the patients recovery.

You will be required to submit evidence of your qualifications for this position.
