Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time (24 hours) Home Therapy Administrator to join the Renal Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. You will provide support to the Home Therapy Team within the department. Please note this role will be based at Kendal Home Therapy Unit at Westmorland General Hospital.

This is an excellent and exciting opportunity to join the Renal Department at Kendal Renal Unit which is a very busy and fast paced department providing patient care across Lancashire & South Cumbria, East Lancashire, Blackpool & Fylde and surrounding areas. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and adaptable individual who has an interest in improving patient experience and is looking for a challenge in a post that is both interesting and varied.

You will possess excellent administrative skills, be a team player with a flexible approach to working.

We require a well organised person to co-ordinate the changing requirements of home dialysis patients in respect of their dialysis prescriptions and consumables as well as providing effective support and co-ordination of home dialysis and holiday dialysis.

You should ideally possess excellent communication skills and have experience of entering data. Good organisational and communication skills are essential.

The post supports the Home Therapy Manager and therefore administrative experience and a typing speed of 50wpm is desirable.

Main duties of the job

Knowledge of a hospital working environment and medical terminology would be an advantage - we don't want to just throw you in at the deep end so we are looking for someone who knows what it's like to work in an office team environment. However, as all offices and systems are different, you will receive full training when you start so there will be plenty of opportunity to grow and develop new skills as well as show us what you can do with yours. The ability to use your initiative and work as a member of a busy team is essential.

Knowledge of a hospital working environment and medical terminology would be an advantage.
