Please note -this role is for nights, however there will be very occasional day shifts.

Sift pattern - 19:30 -07:30, including bank holidays and weekends.

Main duties of the job

In order to succeed you will have proven leadership skills and experience, highly effective and influential communication skills, the ability to challenge professionally and move things forward by engaging all of your colleagues.

You will be responsible for the overall running of the hospital sites over a 24 hour period forming the first point of escalation across the hospitals at all times in order to support patient flow and quality of care across the organisation.

You will act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and organisation. You will also be required to develop good working relationships with staff at all levels across the organisation ensuring the effective utilisation of available bed-stock whilst ensuring that the clear principles outlined in the policies are adhered to in a manner that ensures consistency and improve the patient experience whilst meeting demands within the national standards.

You will rotate between day and night duty at Preston and Chorley in order to remain aware of all areas of operational management and flow, although flexible working would be considered. You will also work as an effective member of the multi-professional team to ensure that effective patient flow across the organisation is achieved.

Essential

  • Appropriate Professional Registration (NMC)
  • Degree in Nursing (or significant experience with supporting portfolio of evidence)
  • Evidence of continuous professional development or development in areas of speciality

Desirable

  • AIMS Course
  • ALS Provider
  • Management qualification
  • Fire Marshall Training
  • Verification of expected death for nurses

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Substantial post registration experience within an acute hospital Trust
  • Substantial experience working in patient flow/Bed Management
  • Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge
  • Effective communicator able to communicate complex and sensitive information
  • Evidence of relevant involvement in meeting the Trust clinical governance objectives
  • Understanding of implications of National Targets, in particular four-hour Emergency Department Standard and relevant bed management
  • Understanding of issues and complexities around patient flow
  • Substantial experience at band 6 level
  • Emergency Clinical Quality Standards
