Job summary

We're not going to lie when we say we are looking for somebody who can do it all- from Construction and Surveying to Engineering, the position of Senior Project Manager is a varied and rewarding role.

We are looking for a highly customer focused individual with strong leadership skills and project management experience, who can lead a team of project support staff and contractors.

You will ideally be from an architectural, surveying, construction, engineering or building background and will be highly motivated with excellent communication skills and a proven track record in the Estates field.

You will provide a professional capital and property project management role for the Trust and will be accountable for delivering projects in their entirety from inception to completion to improve the environment for patients and staff.

Working in a small team, you will be expected to provide cover for each other and lend your skills across all projects.

Main duties of the job

You will support the Assistant Director (Acting), Building, Capital & Property by providing a professional capital project management service for the Trust, including advice on all strategic and operational issues. This will include specialist advice on Local Planning and Building Regulations applications, and manage the operational delivery of the Trust's approved Capital Projects. Essential

  • oMasters Degree or equivalent knowledge and experience in Building Surveying, Engineering or construction related discipline.
  • oChartered Member of appropriate building / engineering related Professional Institution, such as the RICS, CIOB, IHEEM, CIBSE or RIBA.
  • oPost graduate construction/property management knowledge gained through training and experience to Master's equivalent level.
  • oEvidence of continuing professional development and management/ leadership development.

Desirable

  • oRecognised Project Management qualification.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • oExperience of working in a similar role within an Estates or Facilities team. Demonstrable experience of having managed teams, operational budgets, and multiple construction or refurbishment projects.
  • o Able to demonstrate experience in providing expert advice at a senior level on property and construction matters, in accordance with national and local policies and standards.
  • oExperience of successful negotiation and contract management.
  • o Experience of completing business cases for Capital investment.
  • oSignificant experience in planning and delivery of capital programmes.
  • oStrong track record in managing schemes to time and budget.
  • oAwareness of current legislation and guidance for NHS properties, such as HBNs and HTMs.
  • oGood knowledge of industry standard building construction contracts, along with the ability to effectively manage contractual relationships with Contractors and Consultants.
  • oGood working knowledge of Local Authority Planning rules, and the Building Regulations.
  • oKnowledge & understanding of public sector construction frameworks and EU procurement regulations.

  • o Experience of developing joint and collaborative working with local health and commercial partners.
  • Experience of public sector procurement and tendering procedures.
