Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to come and join #TeamED as a Junior Clinical Fellow.

You will have an opportunity to use your existing knowledge and skills gained as a junior doctor and develop these further in a busy, buzzing, well supervised Emergency Department. These 12 month posts are a great opportunity for those wishing to expand their front line experience before entering Specialty training.

You should have the equivalent experience of having successfully completed your FY2 year and have experience of working in the NHS for 12 months.

Main duties of the job

Clinical duties will include all those duties normally expected of a Junior Doctor (FY2-ST2 equivalent) in similar sized emergency departments in the United Kingdom and will include:

The initial management and primary care of patients presenting in the Department, however referred.It is expected that such work will be carried out to the highest clinical standards at all times and in accordance with accepted good medical practice and the various clinical policies of the Service.

Arranging the follow-up of patients they treat in the Department - including the follow-up of any investigations performed and the taking of appropriate action in accordance with the results of these.

Transmission of relevant clinical information on patients to other medical, technical and nursing staff either within the Department, within or without the hospital or at any other hospital, regarding patients under care or those referred to other places for further treatment or follow-up.

Initial management of fractures including reduction and immobilisation.

The performing of minor surgical procedures and operations.

Maintenance of adequate and proper records on patients for both clinical and audit purposes (including data input into the computer system) and for the furnishing of letters, reports and other documentation as required for medical, legal and statutory purposes.

Coding diagnostics and treatment of patients on the information system
