Job summary
We are looking for an experienced individual to lead a team of over 100 people delivering payroll, pensions, expenses and help desk services to a number of NHS organisations across England.
The role requires a strong commercial mindset along with extensive experience in leading the delivery of services in a pay and grading structure environment, preferably the NHS.
ELFS is an NHS owned Business Service organisation providing back-office transactional services to a number of Trusts across England. Established in 2002, and as the business division of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, over the last 20 years we have helped the Trusts we work with to improve their services whilst reducing back-office delivery costs. We work in partnership with our clients building a strong working relationship and in putting our customers at the heart of what we do.
Main duties of the job
You will lead a team of over 100 people, ensuring we exceed our contractual and commercial obligations. You will own the budgets for the range of services provided, and own client relationships including leading/participating in meetings with clients both virtually and face-to-face
You will lead the transformation and growth of our services to ensure we exceed customer expectationsthrough both the acquisition of new clients and new products/services.
You will also work as part of ELFS senior leadership team to develop ELFS positive reputation with our service users.

- Hold industry recognised qualifications in Payroll equivalent to master's degree level, or a degree level qualification and significant experience equivalent to a master's degree.
Knowledge and Experience

- Demonstrate knowledge and experience to deliver, lead and manage multiple client service payrolls and projects
- Previous experience in a leadership role over a large operational function with demonstrable examples of bringing about efficiencies and service improvement
- Proven experience of tendering and contract management
- Demonstrate an expert knowledge of Payroll Conditions and Procedures, Pension Schemes and current Statutory Legislation
- Demonstrate an extensive knowledge of the workings of all pay related computer systems.
- Demonstrate an advanced level of ability to effectively use Microsoft Office software.
- Understanding of security and Health and Safety issues
- Experience of leading large-scale teams
