We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join our Ward 4 Plastic Surgery Clerical team. We offer a full induction, in-house training, and great development opportunities.

You will be responsible for providing an efficient and effective outpatient reception and appointments service, with strict adherence to Trust protocols, being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity. Clear and effective communication skills are essential to this role.

Worried about experience? Don't be! Basic training will be provided by our experienced ward clerk, ensuring you're equipped with all the tools you need to excel in this dynamic environment.

This post is worked on a rota basis between the hours of 8am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday. You will be based at Royal Preston Hospital.

Main duties of the job

You will possess excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills, attention to detail being a key characteristic.

You will ensure that standards of service are maintained, have a strongly held commitment to high standards of service delivery and be pro-active in the implementation of the 'Patient Choice' development process.

You will deal with all aspects of the outpatient appointment function on the Trust's computerised patient record system (Flex Prod), actively participate in virtual receptionist process, activating outpatient appointments, updating patient demographics and out-coming clinic attendance. You will be expected to support the ongoing Outpatient Digitisation process.

  • Good general standard of education, including Maths and English

Desirable

  • English and Maths GCSE level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of working in a changing environment
  • Computer Literate
  • Understanding of Information Governance, Data Quality, Patient Confidentiality and its requirements

Desirable

  • Previous NHS/Public sector experience, including direct customer care.
  • Previous experience of working within a busy outpatient appointments environment
