The cardiology department comprises of the Cardiac Catheter Suite, Coronary Care unit and Ward 18.
Ward 18 is 28 bedded vibrant medical ward specialising in cardiology. We provide diagnostic and treatment for cardiac conditions, procedures, implantation of cardiac devices and medical care for patients with both acute and chronic cardiac problems. We are an established team and although it is a very busy and demanding ward we work closely as a team and deal with the day to day pressures with positivity and high levels of energy. We love making a difference and working together as a close family to gain the rewards of making a patient's journey enjoyable and successful and are constantly seeking to improve our service to meet the diverse needs of our patients and their families.
In return for your commitment you will be able to experience a broad range of leadership and managerial strategies with access to a comprehensive package of leadership coaching, education and clinical support; You will be fully support by our senior nursing and clinical team, matron, DND and divisional management team
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual to work alongside our existing ward manager with a genuine desire to look after cardiac and general medical patients. You should have a keen interest in providing high quality; harm free, patient centred care in a busy, fast paced, ever changing and often challenging environment.
You will be a strong and compassionate leader able to work alongside and continue to grow our nursing team. It is essential that high standard and quality care is second nature to you whilst you promote kindness and collaborative working. You will jointly manage a team of approximately 60 staff and have the ability to support service developments.
You will have overall responsibility for the provision of excellent care with compassion for the patients, relative and visitors who are cared for within their ward or department or by their team.
In addition to your role you will have overarching responsibility for the cath lab/RAU escalation area(s)
