Job summary

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a driven and enthusiastic Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian to join our esteemed team. We are seeking an individual with outstanding communication skills, a genuine passion for paediatric care, and a keen interest in Diabetes.

You will play a crucial role in delivering general paediatric dietetic sessions in both outpatient and ward settings. You will be an integral part of the Paediatric Diabetes MDT, collaborating closely with experienced paediatric diabetes dietitians to ensure comprehensive patient care.

You will provide support to newly diagnosed patients on the children's ward and conduct visits to patients in their homes or schools as required.

Based predominantly at Royal Preston Hospital, you will also undertake clinics and visits at other venues. A flexible working pattern is essential to cover evening teenage clinics. Rest assured, education and training will be provided to enhance your skills and support this service effectively.

Joining a dedicated team of seven paediatric dietitians and two dietetic support workers, you will receive full support to develop your knowledge and skills within Paediatric Dietetics. Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for a varied Paediatric caseload which will include covering the acute Paediatric wards, undertaking outpatient clinics and working closely with other members of wider multidisciplinary teams such as specialist nurses, therapists, and health visitors. Previous experience in multidisciplinary teamwork would be preferable.

You will be an integral member of the Paediatric Diabetes MDT, working alongside an experienced Band 7 paediatric diabetes dietitian.

You will be fully supported to develop your knowledge and skills within this specialist field and clinical supervision will be provided.

This role provides the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in managing more complex patients with the support of the child health dietetic team and our expert multidisciplinary colleagues.

You will require excellent communication skills and multidisciplinary team working experience. Applicants should be HCPC registered and able to demonstrate post registration experience at Band 5/6 level. Paediatric experience and ideally experience in diabetes is desired.

You will join a team of over 40 experienced and forward-thinking dietitians, dietetic support workers and administrative staff.

Our Child Health Dietetic Team covers a busy general paediatric department that includes inpatients, outpatients, MDT clinics, group education sessions, the neonatal intensive care unit and community home enteral feeding. We are well established within the children's and young people's division in the Hospital and work closely with all members of the MDT.
