Your role is pivotal to the success of trauma and elective orthopaedic surgeries, ensuring the availability of the right instruments for safe and effective procedures.

Take charge of organising, monitoring, and ordering the necessary stock and implants for various surgeries, contributing to the overall success of interventions. Leverage your clinical knowledge to streamline and organise implants and stock tailored for Elective, Emergency, and Trauma Surgery, maintaining a well-equipped surgical environment.

Main duties of the job

Your vigilance in monitoring stock levels and addressing instrument-related issues within the department minimises disruptions, contributing to a smoothly running operation. Play a key role in orchestrating instrument trays, enhancing the efficiency of the surgical team.

Your role is crucial in making sure everything runs smoothly. Work closely with procurement to keep stock levels in sync with demand and quickly address any shortages across the department. You will contribute to maintaining rigorous stock control standards and provide audit reports as requested, demonstrating your commitment to excellence.

You'll also be the go-to person, building and maintaining relationships with procurement, other departments, and company representatives. Your ability to connect the dots ensures a well-coordinated operation and successful collaborations.

The post holder is needs to be acutely aware of the budgetary resources available and the need to work within the financial envelope.

They will ensure all stock and loan kit is stored and handled correctly and that strict sterility is maintained.

They will assist the theatre teams by monitoring processes to ensure that all implants received and processed and that strict inventory of invoices and receipts are maintained to ensure accurate accounting.

Essential

  • GCSE Maths & English grade C Or above OR level 2 numeracy skills and level 2 literacy skills
  • Basic IT Skills

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working in the theatre environment
  • Understanding of Health and safety issues within Healthcare
  • Understanding of the concept and application of confidentiality

Desirable

  • Evidence of working in a band 2 role in theatres
