Senior Healthcare Assistant - Diabetes and Endocrinology

Job summary

We are looking for experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our nursing team on our fantastic Ward 5. There are opportunities to develop your career supported by an established and welcoming team. Our unit is a busy proactive 28 bedded ward. We admit adults with a diverse range of acute and complex diabetic conditions, as well as other acute medical issues. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with the passion to deliver excellent care with compassion and a can do attitude. Experience of working with acute patients in a hospital setting would be beneficial, and working well within a team is essential.

You will need to be flexible in your working hours to work shifts/unsocial hours including nights as required.

Main duties of the job

This is such an important role in our team and we cannot tell you just how valued you will be. You will be responsible for providing a range of personalised care for patients and a range of clinical dutiesunder the guidance and supervision of the team leader/nurse in charge including but not excusive too:

• assisting patients with personal hygiene, toileting, use of continence aids, catheter care, stoma care, measuring & monitoring patient output, removal of catheters
• moving and handling, use of mobility appliances, correct patient positioning, assess pressure areas and skin integrity, ensuring patient safety
• taking specimens including blood sugars, taking and recording physical measurements observing patients for changes in condition, carrying out simple dressings, removal of venflons
