Main duties of the job

You'll work on the validation and audit of patient information, applying a high degree of attention to detail and precision, ensuring that missing data items are obtained and data errors corrected so our patient records are as accurate as possible. You'll highlight recurrent errors and trends to support process improvement.

We support the improvement, development and timely capture of sound and accurate data across the Trust. It can feel quite frustrating and repetitive at times; but we take personal responsibility for the quality of service provided and continually strive for service improvements.

We can't expect you to stay forever, but we certainly believe in training for progression, supporting our team to grow & develop. You will develop all kinds of skills through the use of internal & external systems/databases, including Microsoft applications. Your training requirements are included within personal developments plan and supported by the team.

Job responsibilities

  • Support effective audit of patient pathway ensuring data items are checked / recorded within agreed timescales.
  • Interrogate patient records and data to ensure accuracy and updating Trust systems to reflect any updated information.
  • Undertake the validation of exception and associated reports, ensuring missing data items are obtained and data errors corrected.
  • Undertake data input/recording.
  • Be committed to the continuous improvement of Data Quality, taking personal responsibility for the quality of service provided and to contribute towards and support service improvements.
  • Assist and support improvements and developments in the timely capture of sound and accurate data across the Trust.
  • Assist with the corporate rolling audit programme, supporting collection and reporting of outcomes.
  • Deal with telephone/email enquiries from other departments/ organisations in a polite and efficient manner.
  • Liaise with internal / external staff to ensure sound collection and recording processes are complied with
  • Undertake the monitoring, recording and re-direction of clinical information letters (NoPs).
  • Monitor and action rejects from Lancashire Person Record Exchange Service(LPRES) system.
  • Action patient Death Notifications.
  • Support continuous review/development of quality initiatives, responding in line with changing requirements.
  • Support within the Data Quality Assurance function an honest and open culture that encourages the use of initiative, individual and team responsibility.
  • Perform role and responsibilities with due regard to all Trust Procedural and Policy documentation and local policies and legislation.

  • Good Educational standard (including Math & English GCSE (grade c or above )or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Educated to A - Level Standard
  • Holds ECDL or equivalent experience

Knowledge & Experience

  • oAble to demonstrate a good understanding of Data Quality and it's requirements
  • oInvestigative and analytical approach/experience
