An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of two dynamic teams at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. We are looking for a dual accredited consultant to join the Emergency and Critical Care teams including the Major Trauma Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria. Successful candidates will be at the forefront of Acute care across Royal Preston and Chorley Hospitals serving the population of Lancashire when they are most in need.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should hold or be eligible for Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) within six months of interview.
#teamED is very team orientated and we strive to offer senior clinical expertise at the front door meaning that our consultant body is very visible on the shop floor and is expected to provide direct clinical care as an Emergency Physician and Trauma Team Leader. We also provide the role of medical coordinator running the shift, ensuring safety and over viewing the junior clinical staff alongside a senior nurse as the nursing coordinator to make sure the department runs as safely and efficient as possible.
The Critical Care consultant body currently consists of 18 full time consultants. We work weekday and weekend block working patterns (see Job Plan), with on-calls worked as a block once every 8 weeks. We have a mid-week handover incorporating Morbidity and Mortality and Rehabilitation MDT meetings.
About us
The two Emergency Departments act as a single Emergency Service based on the two sites. The Royal Preston site is designated as the Major Trauma Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria with #team ED leading the multi-disciplinary trauma team.
The Critical Care team have opened a state-of-the-art 34 bed unit at Royal Preston Hospital with advanced patient and relative facilities. Our team have a feeling of pride when caring for our patients and their relatives on one of the most modern units in the country. We have a fully electronic patient record and the facilities for remote working.
