Job summary
Are you interested in specialising in Neuro-Rehab? Do you want to consolidate your skills and develop your therapuetic Neuro Handling skills to a high standard? Do you want to be supported by highly skilled, highly experienced therapists in a trust that offers more than the standard Neuro rotations? Then this may well be the job for you!
We've got the standard rotations like Stroke, Critical Care Rehab and Acute Rehab but what makes our rotations so exciting is all the specialist regional areas we have, including Neurosurgery, Neurology and the Neuro Rehabilitation Unit. There's definitely real opportunity to develop into a highly skilled rehab therapist.
Our rotations are 9 months long which gives you plenty of time to get stuck in. We pride ourselves on being rehab legends and providing the best possible care for our patients whilst increasing their independence.
We are supportive of flexible working arrangements and would welcome applicants looking for part-time hours as well as those considering longer days/compressed hours.
We can't possibly cram it all into one advert and we would love you to see the Core Therapy teams behind the words on the page so please follow some of us on Twitter @NRU_LTHTR, @ICU_Therapy_RPH, @RPHacutemedica1
We were proud to take part in a video series '24 hours' and feature Core Therapies. Take a look to get to know us a whole lot better: https://vimeo.com/showcase/6691052
Main duties of the job
So what does a normal day look like? It'll start with a morning board round with the MDT to identify patients appropriate for therapy. Once you've prioritised your day you'll be able to crack on with the assessment, treatment and discharge planning of a variety of patients with complex needs. We think setting SMART goals is really important for the patients we are rehabilitating so that's something you'll be involved in too.
We are an integrated team so it's likely that you'll be spending time with the Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants in your area of work. Our Therapy Assistants are the perfect people to continue any exercise programmes you have put into place.
Service and personal development is pretty important to us too. We have a comprehensive in-house Neuro teaching programme which you can attend as well as opportunities and support to consolidate knowledge and skills to allow competent respiratory and on-call working through a blended learning individualised training programme, to maintain and build confidence in supporting the on-call physiotherapy service.
About us
We have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.
Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.
You'll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you'd never have done. You'll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.
You'll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
