We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced Pharmacist to join our Radio Pharmacy/Quality Assurance Team.

You will be the accountable pharmacist for Radio Pharmacy, required to manage and work in the dedicated unit, which operates under S10 Exemption. You will work closely with the Radio Pharmacy technician and other rotational Pharmacy Technicians to deliver an effective and efficient daily Radio Pharmacy service to the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The role is split with that of Lead QA Pharmacist where you will be part of a dedicated team to implement, manage and monitor compliance with the pharmacy Quality Management System for the MS licensed Aseptic and Manufacturing Unit. This includes carrying out all aspects of the daily tasks of monitoring compliance against the documented Quality Management System. There will be a commitment to assessing raw materials, licensed products and consumables in addition to releasing a range of products on a daily rota basis.

Job responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Quality with the design and maintenance of the Pharmaceutical Quality Management Systems for licensed and non-licensed activities across the PMU.
  • Liaison with wider pharmacy team will also be necessary such as clinical, dispensary and procurement teams
  • Lead on implementing the PQS within all activities, including non sterile manufacture, assembly (pack down, over labelling and kits assembly), radio pharmacy and Aseptic.
  • Provide assurances that facilities and equipment are fit for purpose.
  • Work collaboratively with the other Lead Pharmacist to jointly plan (and participate in) all operational release rotas for the PMU, including early, late, weekend or bank holiday shifts.
  • Work collaboratively the other Lead Pharmacist to jointly plan the training and assessment for QA staff including senior pharmacists, senior pharmaceutical scientist, releasing officer, senior technician and assistant technical officer.
  • Plan the project work for the activities QA staff.
  • The post holder will work closely with production and other QA staff to plan and ensure timely release of prepared and manufactured medicines, and will certify all medicines as having been prepared or manufactured in compliance with current Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers.

Hours of work are 8am until 4pm and 1 late shift of 11am until 7pm Monday to Friday. Bank Holidays are covered as part of a rota. This post is based at the Royal Preston Hospital site located close to local amenities with easy access routes to the M6 and M55 motorways
