Job summary
This is a varied and exciting position for someone with an audio-visual background that would like to bring their skills to a healthcare environment and be part of an innovative and forward-thinking team.
We are looking for an audio-visual support technician to maintain all systems within the education centres at both Chorley and Preston hospitals as well as provide support for users and staff when needed. You will also be supporting new and innovative teaching technology within healthcare.
The Health Academy at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals provides facilities for meetings, clinical skills and teaching, and boast high-spec audio-visual facilities throughout.
Main duties of the job
As part of the Blended Learning team and reporting to the Blended Learning Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all audio-visual systems within the Education Centres at both Chorley and Preston hospitals are maintained and working to a high standard. This includes quickly and successfully resolving any issues or faults logged, implementing pre-emptive maintenance, installing equipment, and overseeing any installations by external companies.
In addition, you will be required to assist with any educational technology projects and implementing new solutions such as virtual and augmented reality, and 3D printing. You will also be required to assist in high-profile corporate and educational events such as webinars, and awards and courses.
Ideally you will have a strong background in audio-visual installation, programming, and support, as well as being technically minded and skilled in IT including the use of MS Office suites and basic admin-level IT support.
You will be able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels and act as an expert resource in supporting staff to use a wide range of equipment in addition to traditional audio-visual systems. No one day will be the same, you will need to be able to quickly adapt to different people and situations. You will be expected to work in high-pressure clinical settings such as surgical theatres and must have a safe and professional attitude towards your workplace, colleagues, and patients.

The role is based mainly on-site at both Chorley and Preston hospitals (Preston being the primary base) around core-hours, but you will be expected to provide occasional out of hours support where needed. There will be the option for home working depending on the required workload.

- Installation of AV equipment including mounting of equipment
- Programming of new AV equipment during installations or repurposing of existing equipment

- Be responsible for day-to-day maintenance of educational technology hardware
