The Clinical Skills team is looking to recruit a highly motivated and skilled staff member to assist in driving high quality skills delivery throughout the Trust.
Our team specialises in the delivery of clinical skills teaching to a wide range of health care professionals including; Health Care Assistants, qualified Nurses, AHP's and undergraduate and post graduate medical staff. The skills include; venepuncture, cannulation, ECG and other clinically relevant skills.
Based within the wider clinical education team including Simulation and resuscitation we work closely with our colleagues to deliver a wide range of high quality and innovative sessions to a wide range of Trust staff.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role include the planning, delivery and evaluation of clinical skills teaching sessions to Nursing & AHP staff on the preceptorship programme & Clinical Skills framework sessions.
You will also assist with new Doctors assessments, the Acute Illness Management course, the new Advanced Skills programme and will be expected to liaise with a wide range of trust staff to ensure effective delivery of these programmes.
You will work as part of the Clinical Skills Education team to develop and deliver a range of clinical skills training sessions to support the development of clinical competence across the range of healthcare professionals, in line with agreed directorate and Trust educational development strategies and priorities.
You will ensure the Trust's training, education and development priorities are delivered in a timely manner and support the drive to ensure clinical skills education is delivered to a high quality standard

About us
You will be based in Education centre 2 at Royal Preston Hospital in a purpose built education building with well equipped skills labs and skills training classrooms.
You will be part of the Clinical Skills education team working alongside other band 6 tutors, managed by a band 7 Team team leader. You will need to work hard, be flexible and have a passion and energy for teaching.

- Develop supporting teaching materials including IT based learning packages e.g. Nearpod, e-learning and Kahoot
- Have the skills to use low and mid technical simulation manikins in delivery of sessions.
- Assist to prepare learning environments setting up stock and equipment prior to session start and to clean and store items correctly after use.
- Support maintenance of adequate stock levels through efficient liaison with technicians.
- Deliver, as part of faculty, the AIM (Acute Illness Management) course.
- Assist with delivery of Advanced Care Skills Programme (SECA).
- Carry out assessment of clinical skill competencies for Multi-disciplinary staff, including liaising with other teams to organise the delivery of OSCEs, fortnightly Doctors assessments, pre-employment Doctors assessments and any other assessments as required.
