We are looking for an experienced enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Pathology Network Practice Education Facilitator.

The role will work across the Lancashire and South Cumbria Pathology Network to standardise education and training of all staff groups.

The role is 37.5 hours per week initially for 1 year. The role can either be a secondment or a fixed term position.

Main duties of the job

  • To develop and maintain a training database for all students within L&SC Pathology Network.
  • To work with current site based training leads to monitor students' progress against the required competencies.
  • To facilitate the allocation of training and supervision of students and trainees in Pathology
  • To contribute to workforce planning for Pathology with the production of a Training Needs Analysis
  • To ensure compliance with requirements for Pathology training accreditation and introduction of network training accreditation
  • To work with training leads and operational teams to develop new roles within pathology and seek out funding.
  • To support the delivery of a L&SC Workforce Strategy
  • To assist in the delivery of training across the Network
  • Harmonise Network training.
  • Support the delivery of 'Maturing' status for NHSE Maturity Matrix

Qualifications & Education

Essential

  • Biomedical sciences (hons) degree or equivalent
  • HCPC registration
  • Specialist portfolio in relevant field (or equivalent)
  • MSc in Biomedical Science, FIMBS or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Teaching/Training Qualification
  • Management Qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Highly developed technical and scientific skills
  • Teaching/training experience
  • Experience as a specialist in a clinical pathology laboratory
  • Experience of troubleshooting
  • Detailed understanding of quality assurance
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk assessments
  • Evidence of highly developed written and oral communication skills in a variety of settings.
  • Experience of working within a team

Desirable

  • In depth knowledge of training needs of Pathology staff
  • Experience of providing training to other staff groups
  • Experience of formal record keeping
