We are looking for a senior nurse with experience in ophthalmology to join our team at our newly built Lancashire Eye Centre as a clinical educator.
The position would be ideal for a Senior Nurse with a passion to develop and teach staff in the field of ophthalmology, and with a drive and commitment to meet service priorities and provide quality standards.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to provide strong leadership and direction to the team, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice to support the day to day, efficient running of the Ophthalmology Department.
You will be required to work clinically and be an advocate for promoting learning opportunities and the development of our team.
As an individual, you will need to be able to maintain a focus on patients at all times, and demonstrate a motivated attitude. In addition, you will act as a strong role model and provide development, clinical supervision and advice for other staff and students to support them in reaching their full potential.
You will have knowledge of the speciality and diagnostic testing that we use in the field of ophthalmology to be able to proficiently support the team.

Support the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse or Matron in ensuring the provision of excellent care with compassion for the patients, relatives and visitors who are cared for within the department, service or by the team.
Ensure a high standard of nursing is delivered by self and others based on evidence based research and assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards and evidence based guidelines.
Assist and support the Unit Manager in the safe, effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities and the associated systems and processes
Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation
Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff
Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care
Promote provision of patient education and health promotion
Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals
Work clinically in all settings of the unit including our ward, out patient unit, triage, pre op and A&E.

- Registered Nurse - RN1,RNA or RN8,RNC if appropriate
- Evidence at working at degree level.
