Due to the expansion of our theatre services within LTHTR we have an exciting opportunity for a nurse or ODP to come and join our team as a second clinical manager for Anaesthetics & Recovery for 12 months. This role will allow the successful person to work alongside our existing clinical manager to lead a team of anaesthetic and recovery practitioners who provide excellent care to our patients.

The anaesthetic service is an essential one that runs 24/7 and as clinical manager you will be expected to work both clinically and non-clinically supporting the anaesthetic and recovery staff.

Main duties of the job

To provide visible, professional leadership, support, supervision and guidance (in line with NMC and HCPC standards), expert clinical advice and undertake management and clinical duties in line professional requirements.

As a teaching hospital we are committed to developing staff and students and as the Clinical Manager you will work with the Theatre Training team to ensure training compliance is met and learning opportunities are maximised. You should be educated to degree level or willing to work towards and you must have substantive senior nursing/ODP experience and demonstrate a commitment to the development of staff, students and your own CPD. As an experienced Anaesthetic and recovery practitioner you will demonstrate excellent knowledge and clinical skills and be a role model for all staff within the department.

Be responsible for the efficient management of the clinical team budget, effectively deploying the clinical team and utilising allocated resources and raising financial expenditure concerns to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

You must demonstrate confidence, strong leadership skills and be flexible and proactive within the role. Have excellent communication skills, IT skills, and a focus on patient safety as well as the ability to manage a varied and demanding workload.
