An opportunity has arisen for a capable Project Manager within the Lancashire & South Cumbria Pathology network. The role will support a Northwest regional project Improving Molecular Pathways & Cancer Turnaround Times (IMPACTT).

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience of project management within the NHS, to join our dynamic and effective Cancer Genomics Operations Group, to map molecular testing pathways in detail.

Main duties of the job

As the patient centred IMPACTT Project Manager, you will have a key role in the delivery of the Northwest Genomic Medicine Service Alliance ambition, to increase clinical engagement with the NHS Genomic Medicine Service, and will work closely with the Cancer Genomics Project Manager in Lancashire and South Cumbria to deliver quality improvements in molecular testing pathways:

o using formal project management methodology to deliver project objectives.o cultivating and maintaining effective working relationships with project, clinical, and laboratory leads across multiple organisations.o producing and keeping up to date project records, that support project delivery timescales.o self-generating work based on project requirements, using initiative to drive and react to changes in priority or direction.

Educated to degree level or possessing equivalent experience, and a formal project management qualification, you will be able to demonstrate project and change management competency, using practice gained.

A small and friendly team with great impact, the high achieving Cancer Genomics Operations Group is formed from staff working in partnered Pathology departments spanning 4 Trusts. We are improving diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic decision making by cancer clinicians, informed by state-of-the-art molecular analysis. Support the successful delivery of the IMPACTT Project in the Lancashire and South Cumbria region. Undertake specific tasks/projects within the IMPACTT Project, ensuring cross cutting issues and key dependencies are considered and that milestones are delivered against plan. Assist in the negotiation of project scope, products and deliverables that support IMPACTT Project objectives in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Provide practical assistance in relation to IMPACTT Project management frameworks. Work with the Cancer Genomics Project Manager and the Senior Project Manager to monitor and evaluate project delivery to facilitate the achievement of IMPACTT project objectives, ensuring timely delivery. Investigate the causes of any variance from plan and proactively contribute to the implementation of solutions. Provide support to relevant governance forums and related workstreams. Work with the Cancer Genomics Project Manager and the IMPACTT Senior Project Manager to provide comprehensive support for the regional reviews this will include the establishment, coordination, and management of a robust framework to ensure the timely submission of information Organise, provide guidance to, and take direction from the Cancer Genomics Project Manager, the IMPACTT Senior Project Manager and related meetings, including participation in working groups and initiatives Ensure robust project/programme plans, risk logs and audit processes are developed and maintained using MS Excel or MS Project software to create high quality plans and databases, creating tracking mechanisms to ensure projects are delivered on time/within budget Contribute to the development of and work within standard operating procedures to ensure effective and efficient use of resources Effectively build and manage stakeholder relationships with a range of individuals/organisations including external advisors and regulators. Work flexibly and with resilience to support all areas of work as and when they arise - lead by example to support other team members to work in a similar way Work in conjunction with the wider NWGMSA team to ensure all IMPACTT Project objectives are delivered

Assist in the development of IMPACTT project communication plans Effectively communicate IMPACTT project objectives to team members and stakeholders Establish and maintain good communication with all key stakeholders, ensuring they are kept fully up to date with IMPACTT project progress and are involved as appropriate Work with Team members to co-ordinate key events and ensuring all programme outputs meet quality assurance standards Communicate in a way which recognises difference and ensures that people feel included and their individual communication needs are met Communicate complex information and develop relationships with all levels of clinical and non-clinical staff and external organisations Manage complex, sensitive, and contentious information appropriately.

Analytical and judgement skills

Take ownership of data within IMPACTT Project including researching local and regional data, developing systems for data collection/measurement, working with wider team members to establish IMPACTT project measurables, report data and ensuring messaging is accurate and understandable, developing ownership of data at team level, and prepare systems so that data can be maintained by the LSCCA when the IMPACTT Project ends. Identify the appropriate method for displaying a wide variety of data in a variety of formats Ensure timely and accurate information analysis and reporting to management on agreed areas of work.

Information management

Ensure that the IT requirements are in line with the Trusts performance management framework and ensure that the IMPACTT Project databases and information tracking systems are appropriately set up and data quality standards are maintained. Devise and provide improvements to current management information, analysing, reporting, and suggesting procedures to enhance decision making processes. Contribute to the review and development of an integrated approach to IMPACTT Project management.

Human resources

Lead by example on all occasions and contribute to/facilitate the development of all members of team

Raise financial implications from the planning and implementation of the IMPACT Project at the earliest opportunity
