Job summary

Are you a motivated registered Diagnostic Radiographer with an interest in Angiography and Interventional Radiology? If so look no further.

We are an expanding Regional Vascular Centre with dedicated Interventional facilities and are looking for Radiographers who can demonstrate Interventional Radiology experience or have an enthusiasm for Interventional Radiology (IR)

You will work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure high quality patient care is delivered and ensure high quality imaging techniques and excellent working practices are performed.

Main duties of the job

You must be an excellent team player and have the ability to accept responsibility and make decisions. You should be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service and be able to take part in the Interventional on call rota. There may be a requirement to work extended days in the future and flexible working requests will be considered.

You will assist and support the Lead radiographer in the safe, effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities and the associated systems and processes

You will ensure a high radiographic standard is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of standards to meet patients' needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence based guidelines.

Job responsibilities

With new equipment and an expanding service this is an exciting time to join our dedicated Interventional Radiology team.

Our facilities include an IR Day case Recovery unit within x-ray, a Siemens Artis Zeego Interventional/ vascular hybrid theatre, a multipurpose room, with a Philips Multidiagnost and the refurbishment of our Main IR suite with the installation of a state of the art Philips Azurion Flexmove. The Interventional work undertaken is varied and highly complex with referrals from a wide range of specialities including Vascular, Renal & Oncology.

We have advanced practice within this area for both radiographers and nurses and encourage staff development in a wide range of role development/extension opportunities.

Duties to include, but not be limited to:

  • Assist and support the Lead radiographer in the safe, effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities and the associated systems and processes
  • Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation
  • Be responsible for the delivery and coordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff
  • Ensure a high radiographic standard is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of standards to meet patients needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence based guidelines
  • Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care
  • Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Communicate with patients, relatives and other healthcare workers to ensure appropriate dissemination of complex information, in a form and manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating
  • Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals
  • Ensures environment of care is safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness

As you may know the Government passed legislation requiring vaccination as a condition of deployment which was due to come in from 1 April 2022. However on the 31Jan 2022 the Secretary of State has announced thatthis is being reconsidered.
