Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Lancashire Teaching Hospitals which is one of the largest providers of healthcare in the area offering new 'state of the art' facilities and has a complement of over 1100 beds for a local population of 390,000 and a regional population of 1.5 million.
This is a substantive consultant appointment, to support the Lancashire Chest Centre's (LCC) to enhance the care we provide for our local and regional patients and for the respiratory service to move to a 7 day inpatient model of care. The LCC offers tertiary services in several subspecialties of Respiratory Medicine.
We are looking for dynamic and innovative colleague who wish to shape the future process of respiratory care in our region. There are evolving links to our local Universities and potential for academic/educational sessions to be part of your job plan.
Main duties of the job
You will join a thriving Medicine Division comprising of 43 consultants, including 15 Respiratory consultants across the two hospital sites. As part of the department of respiratory medicine you will be part of a closely linked group of clinicians who are transforming care delivery within the Trust and also for the wider community.
Working within our respiratory service, you will be an important part of our in-house, regional interventional pulmonology and long term ventilation services. The role will support our expanding integrated care pathways directly linking to care in the community.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts is one of the major acute Trusts in the North West with all of the usual specialities on site as well as being a Tertiary Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria in the departments of Respiratory medicine, Neurosciences, Oncology, Plastic Surgery, Burns, Renal Medicine, Vascular surgery and Trauma medicine. Undergraduate medical education forms a core part of the Trust's educational roles, which the appointee will be expected to be involved in.
