Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Cardiologist to join Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LTHTR).
This is a substantive consultant post required to support current in-patient and out-patient services. The role will also be required to support future developments including functional assessment.
The Trust has a Cardiac Catheterisation Suite which is a dedicated state of the art facility. This facility houses two laboratories undertaking a full range of investigations including right and left heart catheterisation, dual and single pacemaker implantations, transoesophageal echocardiography and cardioversion.
The Cardiology Department has a fully trained BSE-accredited team of echocardiographers using a range of new echocardiography equipment with agreed plans to progress stress services.
Main duties of the job
You will join a thriving and integrated Emergency and General Medical Division comprising of 37 consultants.
The post holder will be part of a team of 6 Consultants at LTHTR covering both Royal Preston and Chorley Hospitals. The team comprises Specialty Doctors, Specialist Registrars and full teams of junior doctors, an ANP and specialist heart failure, cardiac rehab and physiology teams.
We have an emergency out of hours temporary pacing rota which is covered through a 1 in 5 rota. There is close collaboration amongst the Consultants working across the two sites and you will be expected to assume a specific leadership role jointly covering the Coronary Care Unit and Ward 18 at Preston with support provided across the Trust.
About us
Our team is our work family. At Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, you will be working as part of a collaborative, friendly and caring team of incredible people who are committed to providing excellent care with compassion. We celebrate diversity, encourage everyone to contribute, and you are valued for who you are.
Our mission is to provide excellent care with compassion.
As you may know the Government passed legislation requiring vaccination as a condition of deployment which was due to come in from 1 April 2022. However on the 31 Jan 2022 the Secretary of State has announced that this is being reconsidered. However, whilst we wait for further guidance, as a Trust we have made the decision to continue to gather vaccine status during our pre-employment stages should you be made an offer, no offer would be conditional upon you having a vaccine but we need to make you aware that if the decision is taken by the government to implement mandated covid vaccines in the future then your employment may be at risk if you do not have these.
Vaccination against is the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and, of course, your patients from the virus. NHS England and NHS Improvement have always been clear that staff have a professional duty to be vaccinated
