Job summary
This is a full time post at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Immunology (ST3+ grade). This is a fixed term post for 12 months. Anticipated start date is June 2021. The successful applicant must have a license to practice from the GMC. The appointee must hold the MRCP (UK) or show evidence of equivalent training and experience. A specific interest in Immunology would be particularly desirable
Main duties of the job
Participation in the internal education activities of the Department including teaching nurses, medical students, junior doctors and other visitors to the Department.
Participation in the external educational activities, including meetings and courses hosted by the Department.
Participation in the research, audit and clinical governance activities of the Department.
Providing medical support to non-medical staff of the clinic
Performance of administrative tasks relevant to the department (such as writing of letters to colleagues and patients, compiling data, development of clinic protocols).
Clinical liaison with other hospital departments, general practitioners and other agencies as required.
About us
The department provides a tertiary adult immunodeficiency and allergy Regional Services to the Lancashire and South Cumbria zone of the North West Region. These include the diagnosis and management of patients with suspected immunodeficiency, C1 inhibitor deficiency and diagnosis and management of allergic diseases. The department also runs a Home Therapy Service for patients on immunoglobulin therapy, monoclonal antibodies and C1 inhibitor replacement. The Department provides a full range of Clinical Allergy Services. The outpatient service comprises of skin testing, food challenges, drug provocation test, anaesthetic allergy assessment and specific allergen immunotherapy including nasal and oral aspirin desensitisation and monoclonal antibody therapy. Patients with other immunological disorders such as chronic spontaneous urticaria and periodic fever syndrome are also reviewed.
