We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist PMCT and CT Radiographer post to work within the Radiology Speciality Business Unit at a busy Acute Teaching Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post will be based in the PMCT and CT department and the successful candidate will be required to work mainly at Royal Preston Hospital. We have 3 CT scanners at Royal Preston Hospital, the Emergency Department (ED) scanner based in the Trauma Centre and 2 scanners in the main department for both out-patients and in-patients. For the Post-Mortem service we have 1 scanner based in the mortuary. This role will be split between the PMCT and CT department equally, which will include specialist training to aid your development, knowledge and skills.

As a unit we actively encourage staff development and we offer a full induction and development opportunities to the right candidates.

Main Responsibilities:

Assist and support the Lead radiographer in the safe and effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities and the associated systems and processes

Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation.

Be responsible for the delivery and coordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff.

Ensure a high radiographic standard is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of standards to meet patients needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence based guidelines.

Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.

Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.

Communicate with patients, relatives and other healthcare workers to ensure appropriate dissemination of complex information, in a form and manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating.

Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals

Ensures environment of care is safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.

To participate in education and training of junior staff.

Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within scope of role and professional practice.
