Are you an enthusiastic and motivated paediatric nurse who is passionate about delivering high quality care to the children of Preston and surrounding area. We are looking for either newly qualified nurses, looking to consolidate your training in an area offering a robust preceptorship or an experienced Band 5 paediatric Nurse looking to enhance your skills to join our Paediatric Assessment Unit Team. We can offer an induction package with a ward based educator.

Main duties of the job

The unit is a fast paced changing environment with referrals from primary care, emergency department, urgent care, midwifes and health visitors and also families who have open access to the unit to self-refer. Each day is always different which makes the area an ideal opportunity to learn and develop new skills

We are creating a cohort of nursing staff to deliver high quality care to children and their families who come through the Paediatric Assessment Unit. No previous experience of working in an assessment unit is required as full training will be given, including training on Manchester Triage system.

We are a small but expanding team but are proud of the service we deliver. We work collectively as a team to constantly evaluate and improve our service where possible. We value everybodys input and see all staff as having a vital role in the delivery of high class, safe and effective care.

About us

Working with others we have close links with the inpatient ward, Childrens Day Case childrens, outpatients department and paediatric community service. Our ward based team is multi-disciplinary including physios, pharmacist, play specialists, patient experience coordinator and CAMHS team.

The Paediatric Assessment Unit consists of 8 beds, 4 cubicles and 2 triage rooms and is situated within Ward 8, a 30 bedded inpatient paediatric ward. The team on the Paediatric Assessment Unit consists of experienced Band 6 and Band 5 paediatric nurses, senior HCA, and is supported by a Matron, Ward Manager, experienced Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practioners and a lead clinician.
