Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for high calibre accountant to join their Finance Directorate.

We are looking to recruit a qualified band 7. The post holder will be a self-motivated Financial Advisor who can support all financial aspects within the Division.

We are looking for an individual with the drive to succeed who can work effectively with clinical leaders and managers. The role is responsible for providing financial support and assistance to the Senior Business Partner assisting in the delivery of a financial advisory service to the Division and its Clinical Business Units / Specialty Business Units.

Main duties of the job

To act as the nominated Financial Advisor within the Division/Directorates aligned to the team you work within. The Financial Advisor role involves leadership, co-ordination and evaluation of the staffing resource and work produced within the team. An essential part of the role is communicating and suggesting improvements to working practices, processes and skills gaps found in any of the team members.

To ensure financial information is processed in accordance with procedures through completion of own work & through the coordination of the work of others.

To investigate highly complex enquiries providing assistance & advice as required and contributes to corporate reporting/providing strategic/business planning advice.

To ensure that all statutory/NHS accounts & returns represent a true and fair view and meet financial timescales and legal requirements, interpreting these where necessary.

The post will be based at the newly refurbished Finance Department at Lingmell House, Chorley which is located close to Chorley Town Centre and its amenities and within 2 miles of the M61 junction 8 however there will be a requirement to attend the Royal Preston site which is within 2 miles of junction 32 of the M6 motorway.

There will also be involvement in Business Cases, Efficiency (PET/CIP) schemes and working with the Division on their Service Line Reporting position. The post holder will be required to present the financial position at Directorate meetings and to deputise for the Senior Financial Advisor at Clinical Business Unit and Divisional meetings.

The post holder will be a CCAB or CIMA member and be able to demonstrate professional credibility within their field.The post requires exceptional communication skills with both finance and non-finance staff, coupled with a flexible approach to work and significant experience of costing complex services. The post holder will also be capable of working under pressure, prioritising to meet tight deadlines and multi-tasking. Strong IT skills are also a key requirement.
