Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Senior Support Worker for those with an interest in mental health, to join our fast-developing rehab services.

Honeysuckle Lodge is an inpatient level 2 locked rehabilitation unit based on the Royal Bolton hospital site in Bolton, with a client base of 14 female service users of working age.

The post holders will contribute to the delivery of collaborative personalised interventions. Through their interventions they will deliver high level, quality care and evidence-based interventions within a multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be responsible for delivering and maintaining high standards of clinical care within the wider team.

The role focuses upon collaboratively enabling and assisting service users to meet daily health, social care and well being needs, in line with personal recovery goals, and facilitating engagement with mainstream services.

Main duties of the job

Support workers will contribute to and support the multi disciplinary team to provide a high quality service that takes account of individual needs; ensuring a therapeutic and safe environment is maintained for Service Users, Carers, Visitors and Staff. They will be supported to communicate effectively and sensitively with service users understanding their individualized and complex needs.. They will be required to understand and follow delegated duties in relation to individual service user's care and assist in the delivery of direct patient care under the direction and supervision of the qualified staff. They will be supported to undertake nursing observations in line with the Safe and Supportive Observation of Patients at Risk Policy. Support workers will contribute to the planning and implementation of appropriate activities and tasks for service users and assist service users to develop and maintain personal hygiene and appearance in their environment, providing personal care where appropriate, whilst promoting their independence and choice. They will support where appropriate service users in taking up recreational and leisure activities following a risk assessment being undertaken by a registered nurse. They will supported to care for and maintain the holistic needs of the service users within the setting through the direction of the qualified nurse, considering their well being, mental and physical health needs.
