Job summary

Join one of our dynamic, committed and supportive integrated, multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Teams in the Vibrant City of Manchester.

An opportunity has arisen to work in one of our busy, multicultural community mental health teams. The CMHTs are multidisciplinary teams, comprising of nurses, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, employment specialists and peer support workers. The teams are supported by good administrative systems and offers excellent working environments. The teams have good links with local statutory and non-statutory services. All the CMHTs work closely with our colleagues in Urgent care and the Inpatient Wards across GMMH.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of the Community Inclusion Service as a senior support worker under the supervision of the team manager and Occupational Therapist. The main purpose of the role is to work with service users, both on a one to one and group basis, in a goal and recovery focussed way, to enable individuals to improve their wellbeing and move towards independence. This will involve helping service users to overcome barriers to sustaining engagement in their activities of choice and supporting service users to access mainstream activities in the wider community. The post holder will be responsible for developing links in the community, providing one to one support to enable service users to be active, develop their skills and contribute to their communities.

The post involves the co-creation of goal plans with service users and regular reviews and monitoring of service user progress.

The post holder will work with service users who experience severe mental health problems and assist them to access employment, education and training (vocational) opportunities.
